
Significant Growth in Household Deposits
As of the end of January 2026, household deposits in Morocco experienced a year-on-year increase of 7.2%, amounting to MAD 983.9 billion. This figure includes MAD 223.9 billion held by Moroccans living abroad.
Private Sector Deposits on the Rise
Deposits from private non-financial enterprises reached MAD 253.1 billion, reflecting a robust annual growth of 12.8%. This trend indicates a strengthening of financial confidence among businesses.
Interest Rate Adjustments
The Central Bank of Morocco reported a decline in the interest rate for six-month term deposits, which fell by 34 basis points to 2.19% month-on-month. In contrast, the interest rate for twelve-month term deposits increased by 12 basis points to 2.76% at the end of January 2026.
Changes in Savings Account Rates
For the first half of 2026, the minimum interest rate for savings accounts has been set at 1.61%, marking a decrease of 30 basis points compared to the previous semester.
