The Cosumar Group Announces the Launch of the 2025/2026 Sugar Campaign
The results of the previous campaign reflect the exemplary mobilization of the entire sugar sector, including partner farmers, professional associations, agricultural advisors, Regional Technical Committees, and local authorities. These stakeholders recognize the critical importance of this sector for food sovereignty and regional development. The satisfaction expressed by farmers and the renewed confidence of partners confirm the relevance of the aggregation model promoted by COSUMAR, showcasing its ability to unite around common goals. The past campaign demonstrated the national sugar sector's capacity to achieve solid performance through synergy among various actors. Sugar beet production reached 2,005,380 tons, up from 1,150,210 tons in the previous campaign, marking a 74% increase. The harvested area expanded to 34,150 hectares, compared to 21,313 hectares in 2023/2024, representing a 60% rise. Sugar cane production totaled 278,141 tons, harvested from 4,413 hectares. COSUMAR's sugar factories produced 281,000 tons of white sugar from sugar plants, a 50% increase compared to the previous year. These results highlight the resilience of the sector and the determination of partner farmers, who, with the support of agricultural advisors and available solutions, maintained good production levels despite limited rainfall. The gradual introduction of new agricultural technologies—such as drones for crop monitoring, the Attaissir platform for digital advice, smart irrigation management, and rational fertilization through the Smart Blender—has also contributed to securing yields, saving irrigation water, and improving agricultural efficiency. These joint efforts lead to continuous income improvements for farmers, enhancing the attractiveness and sustainability of the sector. The success of this campaign relies on collective synergy among field actors, the COSUMAR Group, partner farmer associations, Regional Technical Committees for Sugar, various ministerial departments, and local authorities. Together, they strengthen the Kingdom's food sovereignty and solidify a sector that remains a vital pillar of national agricultural and economic development. For the current campaign, the Regional Technical Committees for Sugar have established a program of 60,000 hectares for sugar beet and 8,000 hectares for sugar cane, including 3,000 hectares of new plantations, depending on water resource availability. Notably, sowing began across all sugar-growing areas on September 10, 2025. The designated areas for sugar beet cultivation are as follows: - Doukkala: 15,000 hectares - Tadla: 15,000 hectares - Moulouya: 6,000 hectares - Gharb: 15,000 hectares - Loukkos: 9,000 hectares To ensure optimal growing conditions, the COSUMAR Group has implemented a comprehensive support system: - Securing agricultural inputs (seeds, fertilizers, phytosanitary products) since April 2025. - Pre-financing inputs amounting to 500 million dirhams. - Continuing financial support for partner farmers, which is essential for providing stability and visibility in planning their activities. - Enhanced local support through a team of 120 agricultural advisors, offering personalized follow-up and tailored advice for each plot's specific needs. Through these measures, the Group reaffirms its role as an aggregator and its commitment to sustainably support partner farmers, improve their income, and strengthen the sugar sector's contribution to Morocco's food sovereignty. The Group expresses gratitude to all institutional partners, Regional Technical Committees for Sugar, and central and local authorities for their ongoing support, which helps solidify the national sugar industry's role as a lever for sustainable regional development and shared prosperity.
