Lesieur Cristal commissions a self-consumption photovoltaic plant at its industrial site in Aïn Harrouda

Lesieur Cristal has officially commissioned a photovoltaic plant with a capacity of 2 MWc at its industrial site in Aïn Harrouda. This initiative represents a decisive advancement in the group's decarbonization strategy and underscores its commitment to accelerating the energy transition within the Moroccan industry, according to a joint statement.
The plant features 3,254 photovoltaic modules installed over an area of 1.5 hectares, which is expected to reduce annual CO₂ emissions by approximately 2,400 tons, equivalent to planting 90,000 trees each year. This project enhances Lesieur Cristal's ongoing efforts to improve energy efficiency across all its industrial facilities.
The company’s roadmap, initiated in 2020, aims for a 65% reduction in CO₂ emissions by 2030. The commissioning of this plant adds to several already implemented initiatives, including the modernization of packaging lines, the transition from high-density polyethylene (PEHD) to polyethylene terephthalate (PET), and the installation of a 15-ton-per-hour biomass boiler, enabling Lesieur Cristal to replace its thermal energy with 100% green energy.
The ambition remains to continuously and systematically optimize energy across all processes. Notably, the Aïn Harrouda plant is now a pilot site for decarbonization in the agri-food industry. In addition to significantly reducing its carbon footprint, the plant will decrease its annual energy consumption by 12% through on-site direct production.
Said Dahbani, the Director of Industrial Operations at Lesieur Cristal, stated, "The inauguration of this photovoltaic plant fully aligns with Lesieur Cristal's sustainable vision," emphasizing that it strengthens a series of structural initiatives reflecting the Group's commitment to environmental responsibility, industrial performance, and active contribution to national energy transition.
Norddine Moukhlisse, General Director of Nareva Services, expressed pride in the establishment and operation of a state-of-the-art photovoltaic solar plant. "This project embodies our shared commitment to innovative, efficient, and environmentally friendly energy solutions, contributing to a greener and more responsible economy," he added.
By inaugurating this solar plant, Lesieur Cristal reaffirms its ambition to combine industrial performance with environmental responsibility while supporting national objectives for energy transition and sustainable sovereignty. This commitment is integral to the company's purpose, "Serving the Earth," which is shared with its main shareholder, Avril, the fifth-largest agri-food group in France. Through this initiative, Lesieur Cristal aims to continue implementing concrete actions to sustainably reduce its carbon footprint and promote the use of entirely green energy.
