Withdrawal of Specific Banknotes

Starting January 1, 2026, certain Moroccan banknotes will cease to be legal tender. This includes the 10, 50, 100, and 200 dirham notes issued in 1987, the 10 dirham notes released in 1990, and the 20 dirham notes introduced in 1996.

Exchange Process for Affected Notes

Bank Al-Maghrib has clarified that individuals holding these specific banknotes will be able to exchange them without any conditions. This exchange can be conducted at Bank Al-Maghrib branches as well as at all banking institutions.

Timeline for Exchanges

The exchange period will extend from January 1, 2026, until December 31, 2030, providing ample time for the public to convert their old currency.
