TAQA Morocco and Moeve Secure Land Reservation Agreement with Moroccan Government for Green Hydrogen Initiative

Strategic Partnership for Green Energy
TAQA Morocco and Moeve have announced the signing of a preliminary land reservation agreement with the Moroccan government as part of the Morocco Green Hydrogen initiative. This agreement is pivotal for the development of a significant project focused on the production of green ammonia and industrial fuels.
The consortium comprises TAQA Morocco, a leading player in the energy, water, and infrastructure sectors in Morocco, and Moeve, an international group dedicated to sustainable energy and mobility based on green molecules.
Project Responsibilities and Location
Each consortium member will operate within its area of expertise. TAQA Morocco will be responsible for supplying the renewable energy components of the project, which is set to be developed in the Dakhla region. Meanwhile, Moeve will handle the production and marketing of e-fuels at the Port of Jorf Lasfar.
Next Steps and Feasibility Studies
Selected by the steering committee of the Morocco Green Hydrogen initiative, this project is now entering a critical phase with the commencement of feasibility studies.
Statements from Leadership
Abdelmajid Iraqui Houssaini, Chairman of the Board of TAQA Morocco, emphasized that this strategic partnership with Moeve will enhance TAQA Morocco's decarbonization efforts and support green mobility by developing hydrogen-derived products essential for industry and transportation.
Maarten Wetselaar, CEO of Moeve, remarked that this agreement represents a significant milestone in the large-scale production of green molecules in Morocco. By combining their expertise in green fuels with TAQA Morocco's robust renewable energy production capabilities, they are laying the groundwork for a project that will accelerate the decarbonization of both industry and heavy transport.
