Photovoltaics, PVC: The State Aims to Increase Tariffs to Protect the National Sector

To develop the competitiveness of the national photovoltaic panel industry, a proposal has been made to increase the import duty on photovoltaic cells assembled into modules or made into panels from 2.5% to 10%. It is important to note that both photovoltaic panels and modules are currently subject to the same import duty rate of 2.5% as the cells used in their production.
Additionally, following the increase in tariffs by the United States on PVC resin, particularly those sourced from China, the lack of strong tariff barriers exposes the national industry to the risk of diversion of exports originally intended for the American market to Morocco.
To protect the national PVC resin sector, it is proposed to raise the import duty rate from 2.5% to 10% applicable to PVC resin.
