Morocco's Reservoirs Experience Significant Recovery with Over 70% Capacity

Overview of Reservoir Capacity

Morocco's water reservoirs are currently experiencing a favorable trend, with overall capacity surpassing 70%. This improvement is evident across all hydraulic basins, including those that previously faced significant water shortages.

Key Reservoirs and Their Capacities

The Oum Rabii basin has seen its reserves rise to an impressive 2.22 billion cubic meters. This marks a significant recovery in water levels, contributing to the overall positive trend.

El Massira dam exemplifies this recovery, currently holding 584 million cubic meters, which translates to a filling rate of 21%. This is a stark contrast to the mere 2% recorded during the same period last year.

Bin El Ouidane has also shown remarkable progress, now storing 760 million cubic meters, equating to a filling rate of 62%, a substantial increase from just 4% a year ago.

General Improvement Across Other Basins

Other basins are confirming this widespread improvement. The Loukkos basin is nearing 1.8 billion cubic meters, achieving a filling rate of 94.2%. Meanwhile, the Sebou basin has surpassed 5 billion cubic meters, with a filling rate of 91.3%.

The Tensift-Haouz basin has reached 2.22 billion cubic meters, reflecting a filling rate of 44.8%. Additionally, the Souss basin totals nearly 399 million cubic meters, corresponding to 54%, while the Drâa-Oued Noun basin holds 355 million cubic meters, with a filling rate of 33.8%.
