December 2025 Inflation Trends

In December 2025, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) recorded a slight decrease of 0.1% compared to the previous month. This decline was primarily attributed to a 0.3% drop in food prices, while non-food prices remained stable.

The decrease in food prices was notably influenced by significant reductions in specific categories: 'Oils and fats' fell by 3.9%, 'Fruits' decreased by 2.8%, and 'Meats' saw a 1.2% drop. Conversely, prices for 'Fish and seafood' rose by 3.3%, 'Vegetables' increased by 2.8%, and 'Milk, cheese, and eggs' experienced a 0.6% uptick, along with a 0.4% rise in 'Coffee, tea, and cocoa'.

Among non-food items, the most significant price drop was observed in 'Fuels', which decreased by 0.5%. As a result, the core inflation indicator, which excludes volatile items and public tariffs, also fell by 0.2% in December 2025 compared to the previous month.

Annual Inflation Overview for 2025

For the entirety of 2025, the average annual CPI increased by 0.8% relative to 2024. This rise was driven by a 0.8% increase in food prices and a 0.5% increase in non-food prices.

The fluctuations in non-food prices varied significantly, with 'Transport' experiencing a notable decline of 2.6%, while 'Restaurants and hotels' saw an increase of 3.3%. Consequently, the core inflation indicator also rose by 0.8% throughout 2025 compared to the previous year.

Regional Inflation Variations

The most substantial annual CPI increases were recorded in several cities: Fès led with a 1.7% rise, followed by Kénitra at 1.3%, and Guelmim at 1.2%. Other notable increases included Settat at 1.1%, Tétouan at 1.0%, and both Rabat and Errachidia at 0.9%.

Additional increases were observed in Agadir and Tanger at 0.8%, Casablanca at 0.7%, Meknès, Dakhla, and Al-Hoceima at 0.5%, Beni-Mellal at 0.4%, and Marrakech at 0.2%.
