Morocco: Industrial Production Jumps 7% in the Second Quarter
Morocco's industrial production experienced a notable increase of 7% in the second quarter of 2025. This growth is primarily attributed to rising production indices across several sectors. The chemical industry led the growth with an increase of 9.3%, followed by the manufacturing of other non-metallic mineral products at 10.8%. The food industry also saw a rise of 9.0%, while tobacco product manufacturing surged by 19.1%. Additionally, the automotive sector grew by 5.6%, the electrical equipment manufacturing sector increased by 16.3%, and metallurgy rose by 17.2%. Conversely, the clothing industry reported a decline of 11.6%. Other sectors such as the manufacturing of transport equipment, leather and footwear industries, and rubber and plastic products also faced decreases of 14.5%, 9.1%, and 3.2%, respectively. Furthermore, the production index for extractive industries rose by 16.8%, driven by a 17.4% increase in the production of various extractive industry products and a slight rise of 0.1% in metallic ores. Lastly, the index for electrical energy production recorded a 9.4% increase.
