Morocco and KfW Sign Three Financing Agreements for 450 Million Euros
The signing ceremony took place in the presence of His Excellency Robert DÖLGER, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Rabat, and Janne RAJPAR, Director of the KfW office in Rabat. Other attendees included Nizar Baraka, Minister of Equipment and Water; Leila Benali, Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development; Younes Sekkouri, Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment, and Skills; Zouhair Chorfi, President of the National Electricity Regulatory Authority; Mohamed Rabie KHLIE, Director General of the National Office of Railways; and Wafaa Jamali, Director General of the National Social Support Agency. The agreements focus on financing the following programs: - Climate Policy Support (Phase II) amounting to 100 million euros. This program aims to support measures related to Morocco's resilience to climate change and the transition to a low-carbon economy. - Social Protection (Phase II) amounting to 150 million euros. This funding will assist Morocco in strengthening its social protection framework, particularly in the areas of "Direct Social Assistance" and "employment promotion through active programs and outreach to NEETs." - Mobility and Logistics Platform Program for the Casablanca-Settat region (ONCF). Under this program, KfW will contribute 200 million euros to enhance rail transport in the Casablanca-Settat region through the modernization of train stations and the development of rail infrastructure and services. At the conclusion of the ceremony, Fouzi LEKJAA, Daniela BECKMANN, and KfW officials praised the strong partnership and cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Federal Republic of Germany, reaffirming their commitment to further strengthen these ties.
