Marsa Maroc launches tenders for the development of the East Container Terminal at Nador West Med

Marsa Maroc has launched the tender for the development of the East Container Terminal at the Nador West Med port. The deadline for submitting bids is set for October 7, 2025.
This project follows a concession agreement signed on June 25, 2024, between the National Agency of Nador West Med and Marsa Maroc, which spans 25 years. The terminal will feature 1,520 linear meters of quay, a depth of 18 meters, and 70 hectares of land, with a target capacity of 3.4 million TEUs.
The infrastructure will eventually be equipped with 15 quay cranes (STS) and 45 rubber-tired gantry cranes (RTG) of the latest generation. For the first phase of the project, which is expected to be operational by 2027, Marsa Maroc plans to invest nearly 200 million euros.
Active in transshipment at Tanger Med since 2021 through the Container Terminal 3 (TC3), operated in partnership with Hapag-Lloyd, Eurogate International GmbH, and Contship Italia S.p.A., Marsa Maroc has demonstrated its ability to rapidly expand its operations. The TC3 reached its full capacity of 1.5 million TEUs just three years after its launch.
With this new terminal, Marsa Maroc will become the leading operator in the NWM port complex, increasing its overall container handling capacity to 6.5 million TEUs, nearly 5 million of which will be dedicated to transshipment. This advancement reinforces its leadership in the Moroccan port market and strengthens its positioning in the Mediterranean.
