Delta Holding: Launch of the Duplication Works for the Regional Water Supply from the Moulay Abdellah Dam
The National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) launched the duplication works for a significant section of the regional water supply from the Moulay Abdellah Dam, located north of Agadir, on Wednesday. The ceremony was presided over by Tarik Hamane, General Director of ONEE, alongside Saaïd Amzazi, Wali of the Souss-Massa region. This project is part of the national program for managing water stress and aims to strengthen the drinking water supply for the city of Agadir and its surrounding areas. Specifically, it will facilitate the transfer of treated water from the Tamri station, which has been upgraded to a capacity of 1,100 liters per second, as well as the delivery of water produced by two monobloc desalination stations currently under construction, with a total capacity of 200 liters per second. The project, entrusted to Sogetrama, a subsidiary of Delta Holding, will also secure the drinking water supply for the region during maintenance operations at the large desalination station in Chtouka Aït Baha. Additionally, it will enhance flexibility in managing the water resources of the Abdelmoumen and Moulay Abdellah dams. With a total cost of 132 million dirhams, financed by ONEE through a loan from the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), the project involves the supply, transport, and installation of 13 kilometers of coated steel pipelines with a diameter of 1,000 mm. The commissioning is scheduled for December 2025.
