Gold prices reached a new record in New York on Friday after reports indicated that the United States would impose customs duties on certain bullion. Earlier this year, demand for gold surged across the Atlantic, with American buyers seeking to accumulate stocks in anticipation of potential tariffs on this metal, which had previously been spared from Donald Trump's customs offensive.
This year, gold prices have also benefited from its status as a safe haven amid trade and geopolitical uncertainties, as well as a weakening dollar, which is also considered a safe asset.
