The Casablanca Stock Exchange's MASI index, which initially gained over 3% in the first week of January, has seen its momentum wane significantly. As a result, the index has entered negative territory, reflecting a year-to-date decline of 1.08%.

For the week, the MASI index recorded a decrease of 2.90%. On the same day, the MASI 20 index, which includes the largest market capitalizations, mirrored this downward trend. It closed at 1,448.25 points, down 0.99% for the session, bringing its weekly decline to 3.43% and its annual performance to -2.52%.

Trading Activity

Market activity showed some improvement, with the session's trading volume reaching 419.6 million dirhams. This brought the total weekly trading volume to 1.18 billion dirhams.

Top Performers and Decliners

Ciments du Maroc led the trading volume with 45.1 million dirhams, closing unchanged at 1,750 dirhams. Following closely was Attijariwafa Bank, which saw 40.7 million dirhams in trades, down 0.63% to 725.40 dirhams. Addoha rounded out the top three with 33.6 million dirhams traded, experiencing a decline of 4.96% to close at 32 dirhams.

Gainers in the Market

On the upside, Réalisation Mécaniques achieved the highest gain, rising 7.92% to 477 dirhams. Maghrebail followed with a 5.18% increase to 945 dirhams, while SMI saw a 4.71% rise, closing at 6,200 dirhams.

Market Capitalization

At the end of the week, the total market capitalization stood at 1,036.8 billion dirhams.
